Super Chunky Infinity Scarf - Free Knitting Pattern

It's been awhile since my last post. Life, baby, the holiday season, and my Etsy shop kept me very busy. I did not plan my 2019 blog posts very well, so I did not have content to publish during my busy season. That is my goal for 2020. I am hoping to get blog posts and patterns ready during my slower season in 2020, so that when the rush hits, I can still publish some new things for you.

I am ending the 2019 year with a free knitting pattern. I wanted a super chunky scarf to coordinate with some of the hats in my wardrobe. But I also wanted it to work up quickly, because I have so much to do, with so little time to do it. Enter the Daphne scarf! Knit with size 50 needles, and 2 strands of super bulky yarn, this might just be the coziest thing I have ever made! And it is a super simple pattern, which makes it perfect for knitting while watching Netflix.

(This post may contain affiliate links. See my full affiliate disclosure here.)

Size:
Finished scarf measures approximately 68-70 inches long, and 6 inches wide. I wrap it around my neck twice.

Materials:
Size50 (25mm) US needles, the ones I purchased are circular needles
Super Bulky Weight Yarn #6 (Wool Ease Thick & Quick) Approximately 186 yards (just less than 2 skeins)
Scissors
Needle for weaving in ends
Tape Measure – For checking gauge, and length of scarf before finishing off

Gauge:
5 sts in garter st, 7 rows = 4 inches
Check your gauge and adjust needle size accordingly.

Abbreviations:
CO – Cast on
K – Knit
St(s) – Stitch(es)

Notes:
-This scarf is made holding and knitting 2 strands of yarn together.
-I used the thumb cast on.
-Alternatively, you can use a provisional cast on and garter graft to close infinity scarf.

Tutorials:
Provisional Cast-on: https://www.10rowsaday.com/provisional-caston
Garter Graft: https://www.interweave.com/article/knitting/grafting-garter-stitch/

Instructions:

Using size 50 needles and holding 2 strands of yarn together,
-CO 8 sts (or alternatively, provisional cast on 8 sts)
-Knit across, turn (8 sts)
-Repeat the previous row until your scarf measures approximately 68-70 inches (or desired length)
-Bind off knitwise (or alternatively, keep sts on needles for garter graft - see above tutorial link)
-Sew ends together, I like to put 1 twist in the scarf before sewing.

Finishing:
Weave in any remaining ends. Wrap it around your neck for the coziest snow day ever!

Winter Fashion Blog Hop

In September I was part of a blog hop that featured my Cora Hat as a free pattern download. Over 1,400 of you downloaded the pattern! I am so overwhelmed by the love shown for my pattern. I am participating in another blog hop this month hosted by Claire over at E'Claire Makery. This time I decided to share my Cora Cowl pattern as a free download.

(This post may contain affiliate links. See my full affiliate disclosure here.)

This cowl pattern coordinates perfectly with the Cora Hat, and makes a perfect accessory for gifts, or for your winter markets. And as a bonus, I used just under 1 skein of Caron Simply Soft to make the cowl. I just love 1 skein patterns!

Fall Fashion Blog Hop - Free Crochet Patterns!

I am honored to be a part of the Fall Blog Hop hosted by my friend Claire at E'Claire Makery! I am featuring my Cora hat among the fall fashion designs from 14 other amazing designers.

I recently created the Nora hat knitting pattern and was inspired by this crochet blog hop to also create a crochet version of the hat! I love how it turned out! It has me thinking about other knitted designs of mine that I could recreate with crochet. Oh, the possibilities!

(This post may contain affiliate links. See my full affiliate disclosure here.)

I love these hats because they have 2 different size cables, which makes for a unique and beautiful look! A few years ago, I was terrified of cables (both knitted and crochet). But once I tried them, I realized that basic cables look way more complicated than they actually are! I am so glad that I got up the courage to try cables, because now I cannot seem to stop using them in my designs! Even if you have never tried crochet cables yet, you should definitely give it a go. A couple of my testers had never done cables before, and their hats came out beautifully! I used Caron Simply Soft yarn, and my favorite 5.5mm hook. Add a pom and a tag, and you have a beautiful piece for your market prep, or Christmas gifts!

As part of the Fall Blog Hop, you can get my Cora Hat crochet pattern for free! But only until noon tomorrow, so go get your copy now!

To download the free pdf, please head over to my Ravelry store and use the coupon code found in the blog hop post at E'Claire Makery.

Cora Hat - Crochet Pattern

"Is it knitting or crochet?" I have been asked this question many times. I don't take it personally though. We knitters and crocheters know the difference, but to the one who doesn't do either craft, it can be hard to distinguish. I have the happy ability to both knit and crochet (you can read how I taught myself how to crochet here). So when my Nora hat knitting pattern got so much positive feedback, I decided that it was begging to become a crochet pattern too! I am so happy that I was struck with this sudden inspiration. I have been on a knitting pattern kick, and really do need to spend more time on some crochet design ideas. After all, equal opportunity crafting is very important!

I adore how the hat turned out, and then it just needed a name. I was trying to figure out a name that would coordinate with Nora. I tried to make it too complicated, Eleora, Flora, etc. And then it hit me, Cora! The perfect set of names for my hats! You can purchase the Cora hat on my Ravelry. Here are some more details about what you will receive with the purchase of the pattern.

Nora Hat - Knitting Pattern

Every Christmas for the past few years, my husband has filled my stocking with yarn. I love that new tradition! It's really exciting to see what yarn he has picked out. A couple year ago, he picked out some Patons Classic Wool Worsted. I finally used it this year and came up with a great new design in the process. I have really been enjoying cables recently, so I was inspired to create a design that has 2 different size cables.

I love how it turned out, so I figured out stitch counts for other sizes. I sent it off to my testers, and now the Nora hat, which is available in 5 different sizes, is published on Ravelry! See below for some details about the pattern.

Sizes:
Newborn, 6 months, Toddler (1-3 years), Child (5-7 years), Adult

Materials:
Size 7 (4.5mm) US needles, 16” circular and double pointed (or longer circulars for magic loop)
Size 9 (5.5mm) US needles, 16” circular and double pointed (or longer circulars for magic loop)
Worsted Weight Yarn #4 (Patons Classic Wool Worsted, or Caron Simply Soft) Approximately 150 yards for the Adult size
Stitch Markers
Cable Needle
Scissors
Needle for weaving in ends
Optional – Faux Fur Pom Pom
Tape Measure – For checking gauge

Abbreviations:
CO – Cast on
K – Knit
P – Purl
C3F – Cable 3 Front
C1F – Cable 1 Front
K2tog – Knit 2 together
P2tog – Purl 2 together
St(s) – Stitch(es)
DPN – Double pointed needle

The Nora hat knitting pattern is available for purchase both on Ravelry and Etsy. You can also purchase the finished hat on my Etsy shop.
