Lark Tote Bag - FREE Crochet Pattern

I had a lot of fun creating this tote bag pattern. I included fun textured puff stitches, and a tassel detail because why not?! Keep scrolling for the FREE pattern.


Materials:

H hook (5mm)

Worsted Weight Cotton Yarn #4, Crafters secret

Button

Wood beads for tassel

Fabric for lining - optional


Special Stitches:

Mps - mini puff st 

Yarn over, insert hook into indicated st, yarn over and pull up a st.

Yarn over, insert hook into same st, yarn over and pull up a st.

Yarn over, insert hook into same st, yarn over and pull up a st. 7 loops on hook

Yarn over, pull through 6 loops on hook, yarn over, pull through remaining 2 loops on hook. Do NOT ch.


Instructions

Ch 31

        1. Hdc in 2nd ch from hook. Sc in each remaining ch. 30 sts

        2. Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each st across. 30 sts

        3.-6. Repeat row 2.

        7. Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each st across. When you get to the end of the row, rotate your work so you are working into the side, 6 hdc along side (1 hdc per row). Rotate to work on the bottom (foundation ch row). Hdc across (30). Rotate again to work on the last side. 6 hdc along side. Join with sl st to first hdc of round. 72 sts


Do NOT turn, we are working in the round now. 


        8. Ch 1, hdc in first and each st around. Join. 72 sts.

       9. Repeat round 7.

        10. Ch 1, hdc3rdloop in each st around. Join. 72 sts

        11. Ch 1, mps in first st. *hdc in next 5 sts, mps in next st.* Repeat around. 72 sts

        12. Ch 1, hdc in first 2 sts. *mps in next st, hdc in next 5 sts.* Repeat around to last 4 sts.

              Mps in next st, hdc in last 3 sts. Join. 72 sts

        13. Ch 1, hdc in first 4 sts. *mps in next st, hdc in next 5 sts.* Repeat around to last 2 sts.

              Mps in next st, hdc in last st. Join. 72 sts 

        14. Repeat round 11.

        15. Repeat round 12.

        16. Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join.

        17. Ch 1, hdc3rdloop in each st around. Join. 

        18. Repeat round 17

        19. Repeat round 18

        20. Ch 1, mps in first st. *hdc in next 5 sts, mps in next st.* Repeat around. 72 sts

        21. Ch 1, hdc in first 2 sts. *mps in next st, hdc in next 5 sts.* Repeat around to last 4 sts.

              Mps in next st, hdc in last 3 sts. Join. 72 sts

        22. Ch 1, hdc in first 4 sts. *mps in next st, hdc in next 5 sts.* Repeat around to last 2 sts.

              Mps in next st, hdc in last st. Join. 72 sts 

        23. Repeat round 20.

        24. Repeat round 21.

        25. Ch 1, hdc in each st around. Join. 72 sts

        26. Ch 1, hdc3rdloop in each st around. Join. 72 sts

        27. Ch 2, dc in first st. *ch 1, sk 1 st, dc in next st.* Repeat around to last st.

              Ch 1, sk last st. Join to first dc. 

        28. Ch 1, hdc in first st. *mps in next ch sp, hdc in next dc.* Repeat around to last st.

              Mps in last ch sp. Join to first hdc. 

        29. Repeat round 28

        30. Ch 1, sc in each st and ch sp around. 


Cut yarn, weave in ends.


Strap:

Find 5 sts on both top corners of bag. Attach yarn at one end.

        1. Ch 1, hdc in next 5 sts.

        2. Ch 1, turn. Hdc in each st across. 5 sts.

        3.-50. Repeat row 2.

Sl st strap to other corner of bag.


Make tassel

Add wood beads if desired, and attach to the top of the bag, near one of the straps.


Buttonhole

Ch 10, sl st to first ch to make a loop. Sew onto the back of the bag. Sew button onto the front of the bag.
