Liana Cup Cozy - Free Pattern

I recently purchased some amazing hand dyed yarn from my friend Liana. She has a small business called Wearable Personality, and she makes some amazing yarn. I had been eyeing her gorgeous yarn for a while, and finally treated myself to a skein of Winter Berry on bulky. I made myself a hat and instantly fell in love! You can purchase the hat pattern on my Ravelry.

I had a little bit of yarn left over and could not bring myself to just store it away in my stash. And that is how the Liana Cup Cozy pattern was born! You can find the free cozy pattern below, or you can download the free pdf by clicking the button below.

Finished Size:
Finished cozy measures approximately 3-3.25 inches wide

Materials:
Size 9 (5.5mm) US needles
Bulky Weight Yarn #5 (Lion Brand Color Made Easy) Approximately 50 Yards
Or alternatively, a thick Worsted Weight or Aran Weight will work with minor gauge differences.
Stitch Markers
Cable Needle
Scissors
Needle for weaving in ends
Button – 1 ¼ inch
Tape Measure – For checking gauge, and length of cozy before finishing

Gauge:
16 sts in garter stitch, 24 rows = 4 inches
I tend to knit tightly so check your gauge and adjust needle size accordingly.

Abbreviations:
CO – Cast on
K – Knit
P – Purl
C3F – Cable 3 Front
St(s) – Stitch(es)
RS – Right Side
WS – Wrong Side
BO – Bind off

Notes:
- I use the long-tail cast on to begin the project.
- I use locking or clasp stitch markers to mark the cable rows so I know how many rows I’ve done in between.
- Repeat sections will be noted with *  *
- I use the Cable Cast on for one of the button-hole rows.

Special Stitches:

C3F – Cable 3 Front: (a cable worked over 6 stitches)

Slip 3 stitches onto cable needle.
Hold the cable needle in FRONT.
Knit the next 3 stitches on the left needle.
Knit the 3 stitches that are on the cable needle.

Crochet Chunky Infinity Scarf - Free Crochet Pattern

I ended 2019 with a free pattern, and I figured I would start 2020 with another! Yesterday I shared my Daphne Infinity Scarf knitting pattern. One of my goals for 2020 is to expand my crochet patterns. I have several knitting patterns, but not as many crochet patterns. Today I am taking a step towards that goal and I am sharing my Amy Infinity Scarf crochet pattern.

I first tried crocheting this while holding 2 strands together, but it wasn't draping like I was wanting. It was very stiff. So I tried with just 1 strand, and I really like the soft drape of the scarf. It was snowing while my husband was taking photos, and this scarf was perfect for keeping me warm!

Size:
Finished scarf measures approximately 68-70 inches long, and 6 inches wide. I like to wrap it around my neck twice.

Materials:
Size Q (15.75mm) Crochet Hook
Super Bulky Weight Yarn #6 (Wool Ease Thick & Quick) Approximately 150 yards (about 1.5 skeins)
Scissors
Needle for weaving in ends
Tape Measure – For checking gauge, and length of scarf before finishing off

Gauge:
6 sts in hdc (in 3rd front loop), 4 rows = 4 inches
Check your gauge and adjust needle size accordingly.

Abbreviations (US Terms):
CH – Chain
HDC – Half Double Crochet
SL ST – Slip Stitch
St(s) – Stitch(es)

Notes:
This scarf is made holding only 1 strand of yarn.
Turning CH(s) do NOT count as a st, unless otherwise stated in pattern.

Tutorials:
HDC in front 3rd loop: See Photo Tutorial Below

Identify the front 3rd loop (2 views to help)

Insert hook in the front 3rd loop (NOT the 2 top loops that are normally worked in)

A ridge will now start forming on the backside of Row 2.

Instructions:

Using size Q hook and 1 strand of #6 super bulky yarn,
- CH 11
1. HDC in 3rd CH from hook (the 2 turning CH do NOT count as a st), HDC in remaining CH sts. CH 1, turn. (9 HDC sts)
2. HDC in front 3rd loop in each st across. (see photo tutorial above) CH 1, turn. (9 sts)
- Repeat row 2 until your scarf measures approximately 68-70 inches (or desired length)
- Sew (or SL ST) ends together, I like to put 1 twist in the scarf before sewing.

Finishing:
Weave in any remaining ends.
